Minimalist fashion: No effort needed

Minimalism: the effortless, the simple, the versatile. Minimalism is an aesthetically pleasing, modern-looking style that looks so freaking good without actually doing much. Minimalism interior designs bring a luxe quality to the whole house, minimalist retail outlets are pleasing to wander into due to their simplistic yet stylish vibe, and minimalist jewellery allows for the simple pieces to add enough effect without going over the top. I'm not going to be talking about interior designs or accessory how-to's however, instead I'm going to focus largely on the aesthetically pleasing, modern aura minimalist fashion has and brings to anyone. Minimalist fashion has always been favoured in the public sphere, simply because it's well, simple.  People have always favoured the 'throw on and go' attire that still makes them look highly fashionable and not like a dag, so what better way to attain this than through minimalism? Minimalism by definition is: "a deliberate lack of decoration or adornment in style or design", which pretty much sums it up; minimalist fashion doesn't contain any jewels, decals, adornments, decorations, feathers, fabric play, etc etc. It's simple, it's casual, it's basic. I think the main attraction to it is that it's not only so simple to conquer and wear without thinking about combinations, but that its' versatility is enormous because basic , minimalism pieces can be dressed up with complimenting accessories or footwear to transform into a complete whole other look, therefore it's a worth-while investment if you can wear it time and time again without boredom. Minimalism is meant to be simple, so it's less likely you'll get bored of staring at white on white rather than getting bored of staring at yourself in the mirror wearing the same polka dot pants over and over again, you feel? Minimalism has no rules and no boundaries (apart from the simple rule that it has to be quite minimal), and can be worn by anyone from a youngen, to a teenager, to an adult, to an elderly and can withstand time like no other; Minimalism has been around for years and years and is not going to die down any time soon so for all those haters out there, i suggest you suck it up.

I love minimalism mainly because I drift heavily towards monochromatic looks in my outfits and tend to avoid colour and veracious cuts quite frequently. That's not to say I don't have things against pieces like that, in fact quite the contrary and I would love to start up a collection of my own that focuses on my favourite colour pink and incorporating that colour with different fabrics to create effect, but I'm going off on a tangent here so let's just say, I love all styles. However, minimalism is particularly interesting and awesome for me because it allows for me to buy less and invest in more; Instead turning to complimentary accessories like jackets, shoes, bags and accessories to create a desired effect when needed as oppose to buying a heap of different clothes in crazy colours to switch things up. When I love a garment, I will buy it, no matter what, but I don't see the need to constantly buy and waste your bank account because you proclaimed to yourself that leather and leopard print aren't desirable looks to wear to work or uni. Minimalism fashion is so good cause you can style it down for uni and work, and style it up for a night out or a dinner and that's exactly what I do. Investing in a few great minimalist pieces and creating them the staples or should I say, the foundations, to your wardrobe that you can add to to build up your finished look is something that sounds to cool to me.

For Fashion Week Fall/Winter 15, we have seen the frequent appearance of minimalist fashion in a variety of monochromatic, neutral colours that make me very warm and gooey inside.

From Celine to Maxmara, Tibi and Dion Lee, Nehera& Victoria Beckham and even Scanlan Theodore: minimalism is a big go to piece with a myriad of fashion designers because it guarantees sales, acceptance and love from a diverse customer spectrum.

Effortlessly fashion forward: the Minimalist trend is a clean, fresh, back to basics trend that allows for the natural beauty of the human to shine through without the bombardment and adornment of crazy colours and patterns. Letting go of the traditional style rules of creating a vivid image with volumptious skirts and bright patterns, minimalism creates the ability of looking wonderful without over-complication. So versatile and so wearable; minimalism is gracing its' ways into the fashion kingdom both in womens' and menswear' alike.

Monochromatic love.... no need for the bursts of pinks or the ferocious polka dots.

Minimalism @ Calvin Klein.

A perfect example of the new era of fashion, Calvin Klein is notoriously known for his utterly simplistic yet highly flattering underwear and casual wear. The designer is great at what he does: re-creating the over-simplistic in a new light and instantly making it into a humongous fashion statement. His success wouldn't have existed if not for the new obsession with minimalism, and his undies, although so basic, are my go-to under garment piece. Apart from his great underwear, CK creates beautiful, simplistic dresses and outerwear to compliment the current big trend.

"Putting faith in geometry"

Creating the wow-factor with crisp lines, wonderful cuts and voluminous finishes, Minimalism focuses on the make and quality of design rather than relying on colours and patterns to create the aesthetic appeal. Minimalist fashion is gorgeous because its' almost guaranteed that perfect stitching, finish and cuts are present to play along and create the majority of the look. Quality vs Quantity, Minimalist fashion generates the promise of good clothes without a use by date.
