Toni Maticevski: Fall/Winter 2015 RTW.
I love winter, I love pink, and I love over-using fabric: which is probably why Maticevski's fall/winter 2015 collection caught my eye so much. Combining the primary colours of hued baby blue, magenta pink and royal black together in one collection release allowed for gentle balance of soft and vibrant colours to even out each complimentary look. The colours played a generous role in creating extra-ordinary effects as each colour embodied winter perfectly; the magenta pink being a very welcomed new winter must have in the wardrobe for 2015. Along with the colours, bunches of fabric manoeuvred by the intricacy of craftsmanship and styles that were thought impossible were shown time and time again by a variety of looks from Maticevski's gorgeous line up. Defying gravity, fabric was turned, tucked, knotted, tied, folded into and out of desired shape: instantly transforming the garment into a shape-play work of modern art. Knots in shirts & dresses were created to bring a 3D effect, and fabric play of drapery and folds added a relaxed modernity to the pieces. I love for Maticevski carefully balanced out his pieces: the garments with softer, simpler shapes & colours were given the wow factor of complex knots & folds, and garments with the greater initial bang were kept downplayed and minimalistic to allow the colour to do the talking. As well as intricacy, the choice of fabric Maticevski used demonstrated his knowledge of fabrics and how/what to use to create a desired effect, and stepping out of the normality boundary by bringing new and unique forms & shapes to the ready to wear scene.
My favourite look from this line up is definitely the voluminous jacket over a pink full gown. There's nothing cooler than making the daring look flattering& the weird be desirable, and this look combo captures it oh so well.
Blue Fever
Crisp cut lines, bunches of fabric and perfect seam lines on a soft baby blue background demonstrated the delicacy and modernity of Maticevski's FW15. Capturing the essence of the classic snow queen, baby blues kept things elegant and feminine and the bold cuts created a modern, edgy feel. Combined with a cute little top knot, these looks are the go-to outfits for a cocktail party of a formal ball this winter.
Rock my world
Black & pink are my favourite colours so I knew these looks would be a hit from the very beginning. huge, voluminous wet look black bomber on delicate magenta fairy-like gown creates a delicate edge and the woman suit re-invented with fabric play adds new dimensions of the human body & creates an intriguing play on the classic combo. Love love love.
Y'all know who you should be praising and wearing this winter: Toni Maticevski. Being a recent founder of his amazing work, I am excited to see more collections from him in upcoming seasons.
If you have a formal event to go to: such as a ball, & are stuck on what to wear: definitely check out Maticevski's FW15 gowns. as you can see, they are to die for.
