Giambattista Valli Couture Spring 2015

One of my favourite things about Fashion week isn’t only the clothes themselves but also the amount of work and effort designers put into their collections, their models and their catwalk shows. I can imagine it would be an extremely difficult task to find the perfect music and set up that works to compliment your collection and bring an overall theme to your show, however at each Fashion Week we witness the perfection that is ultimately the designers hard efforts and brilliant ideas.

For Paris Fashion Week, the repeated style seems to be the combination of pattern with monochrome and re-creating classics to fit into the modern fashion scene. 70’s styles and Victorian inspired pieces are definitely the inspirations for designers’ this season and I’m very much liking it. Last blog post, we witnessed the beauty of Givenchy menswear, and today we’re witnessing the god of Paris Fashion Week for 2015: Giambattista Valli & his Couture collection for Spring 2015.

Theres a few things I know for certain from witnessing this collection: Paris Fashion Week 2015 is absolutely killing it, and Giambattista Valli’s couture 2015 will be in my dreams for the next few years if not forever. Taking it back to the times of the baby pinks, soft and elegant fabrics and the tulle, Valli evoked the fairy princess in every girl and captured the essence of youth and femininity that is so eye-popping. Valli stepped out of the norms of fashion week (the oversized coats, prints with monochrome repeats ive mentioned so often now) and decided to bring to the open a Victorian-inspired/fairy princess/10 year old girl style inspirations type of show that stood out from the rest and made me gooey and warm on the inside.

Photos all put together in the order they came out on the runway: starting off with subtle blacks.. then to whites... then hints of florals.... pinks... and ending the show with a BANG of tulle and extreme fabrics in bright and baby pinks. can this collection be any more perfect?

Victorian fashion is definitely an inspiration for this collection: frilly turtlenecks, puffy shoulders and full length dresses made a frequent appearance and the detailed, feminine prints and patterns made me think back to Victorian England where a womans’ femininity was all about the decadence of her dress (the more wealth= more extravagant dress). The jaw dropping was left solely up to the garments as models faces, hairstyles and footwear were kept quite basic (natural make-up, pulled back hair, black strappy heels.. not like you could see them amongst all that tulle action)

Feeling like I’m on fairy land watching the beauty of this collection come to bloom on the runway; it was breathtaking. Although I only saw it online , I still managed to be completely blown away and I’m sure the feeling would be stronger for those who witnessed it first hand & I can’t wait till I get to be a part of the audience (soon!!!!!!!!)

all in the details. Intricate floral prints combined with soft fabrics tie in with the Victorian inspired theme and give elegance to the attire regardless of cut.
Headpieces: worn by all models with every look: mesh over the eyes attached to the black headband tied in a bow at the top of the head , all in black and with polka dots, contrast with the colourful frilly attire to allow for a modern and mysterious touch.
Yippe for the tulle!! loving the details on the backs of some pieces, and keeping the shoes simple stop things from getting a little bit crazy.
