Giambattista Valli Couture Spring 2015

One of my favourite things about Fashion week isn’t only the clothes themselves but also the amount of work and effort designers put into their collections, their models and their catwalk shows. I can imagine it would be an extremely difficult task to find the perfect music and set up that works to compliment your collection and bring an overall theme to your show, however at each Fashion Week we witness the perfection that is ultimately the designers hard efforts and brilliant ideas.

For Paris Fashion Week, the repeated style seems to be the combination of pattern with monochrome and re-creating classics to fit into the modern fashion scene. 70’s styles and Victorian inspired pieces are definitely the inspirations for designers’ this season and I’m very much liking it. Last blog post, we witnessed the beauty of Givenchy menswear, and today we’re witnessing the god of Paris Fashion Week for 2015: Giambattista Valli & his Couture collection for Spring 2015.

Theres a few things I know for certain from witnessing this collection: Paris Fashion Week 2015 is absolutely killing it, and Giambattista Valli’s couture 2015 will be in my dreams for the next few years if not forever. Taking it back to the times of the baby pinks, soft and elegant fabrics and the tulle, Valli evoked the fairy princess in every girl and captured the essence of youth and femininity that is so eye-popping. Valli stepped out of the norms of fashion week (the oversized coats, prints with monochrome repeats ive mentioned so often now) and decided to bring to the open a Victorian-inspired/fairy princess/10 year old girl style inspirations type of show that stood out from the rest and made me gooey and warm on the inside.

Photos all put together in the order they came out on the runway: starting off with subtle blacks.. then to whites... then hints of florals.... pinks... and ending the show with a BANG of tulle and extreme fabrics in bright and baby pinks. can this collection be any more perfect?

Victorian fashion is definitely an inspiration for this collection: frilly turtlenecks, puffy shoulders and full length dresses made a frequent appearance and the detailed, feminine prints and patterns made me think back to Victorian England where a womans’ femininity was all about the decadence of her dress (the more wealth= more extravagant dress). The jaw dropping was left solely up to the garments as models faces, hairstyles and footwear were kept quite basic (natural make-up, pulled back hair, black strappy heels.. not like you could see them amongst all that tulle action)

Feeling like I’m on fairy land watching the beauty of this collection come to bloom on the runway; it was breathtaking. Although I only saw it online , I still managed to be completely blown away and I’m sure the feeling would be stronger for those who witnessed it first hand & I can’t wait till I get to be a part of the audience (soon!!!!!!!!)

all in the details. Intricate floral prints combined with soft fabrics tie in with the Victorian inspired theme and give elegance to the attire regardless of cut.
Headpieces: worn by all models with every look: mesh over the eyes attached to the black headband tied in a bow at the top of the head , all in black and with polka dots, contrast with the colourful frilly attire to allow for a modern and mysterious touch.
Yippe for the tulle!! loving the details on the backs of some pieces, and keeping the shoes simple stop things from getting a little bit crazy.

& the man himself #god

Givenchy: F/W 2015 Paris Fashion Week

It's official: Paris Fashion Week has begun and instagrams and style blogs are going off with countless pics of extravagant materials thrown effortlessly on 6 ft tall extra-humans with chiselled cheekbones and perfect collarbones. its that time of the year to re-create the old, bring in the new and celebrate all that is the designers blood, sweat & tears, countless hours of brainstorming and creating meshed into a fantastic collection for all to admire.
Whether you like it or not, fashion shows guide and tell the world the next trends to buy and wear for the upcoming season: trends on the runway are guaranteed to be seen on the streets, and I think theres' something really special about that.

This year, Paris Fashion Weeks' trend is combining monochrome with bright patterns. Within each collection, the classic combination of black on black (or white on white) is repeated time and time again. Asymmetrically cut pieces, loose fabrics and tailored shirts are the go to items to create in monochrome: they bring an edgy simplicity to the look and combined with unique cuts they become instantly eye popping and beautiful. Pops of bright patterns within collections allow for depth and uniqueness on the runway (to keep things interesting), and the contrasting elements compliment each other to blend the whole line together. The simple with the bold= perfect.
From Balmain to Alexander Wang, Givenchy to Giambattista Valli and Chanel: each is unique and extravagant in their own way: yet all show resemblance with each other and hint at the new era of fashion style. The likes of Givenchy at Paris Fashion Week menswear line brought out the wild animal in every guy: bright embellished shirts with black complimentary garments work to bring out the pattern and colours yet stop the outfit from getting over the top.
The pieces are kept flattering and compliment each other perfectly- emphasising the thought and work put into the show and the entire collection.

The Givenchy runway was a bit of a cross between a maze and the Wizard of Oz's path- although not exactly gold but rather embellished with red crystals reflecting against lights, the place reminded me of a fairytale and I never wanted it to end. Dark, almost horror-story music encased the whole building as the lights shone bright and the models walked out casually yet fiercely, head to toe in the beauty that is Givenchy: and the show began with a bang. One after the other, the pieces intensified as the show progressed.. each next look was more epic, more intricate, more unique than the last. Starting off with simplicity: black tailored yet slightly oversized suits, jackets and shirts hung off the models' bodies, saving the party for the face as several looks were paired off with face painting on models. The face paint worked to complete the whole look from head to toe and bring a modern touch to otherwise simple, clean tailored cuts.

The whole show evoked a gothic, dark and eery feel, all thanks to Riccardo Tisci (the designer for Givenchy)- creating a sleek and at the same time edgy and a little-bit out there collection is a hard thing to do, yet Tisci nailed it.

I am in love with this look ^^ It's a little bit hobo-eqsue  (self made word, no hate) and is kind of on the grungy side and is still very high fashion and maintains quality and style.

Echos of darkness, eye-popping face paints and gothic-inspired patterns glided effortlessly down the glistening red runway perfectly paired with horror music with hints of electro. The mix of the classical with the modern was encapsuled brilliantly from the looks themselves to the set up and the music, and the whole show one that you just couldn't look away from. A round of applause for Riccardo Tisci for capturing and combining the old with the new in the Givenchy F/W 2015 collection. Bravo.

Details of model faces- messy splashes on paint; french braids; stick on flowers.
Edgy, grungy, arty
My favourite look from the entire collection- Biker-style leather jacket with a racoon fur collar and tail decal at the front, washed out face-paint resembling skull-like features combined with watercolour spills, gelled back hair. LARVE
Otherwise pretty simple and toned down look is instantly transformed into a statement with the face paint and the decadent fur on the jacket.

Tisci did not leave us girls out and created a few pieces for the women to fascinate and dream about. This year, complimentary to the menswear style for this collection, gothic-like prints and otherwise subtle and fairly simple dress cuts were featured. The dresses were otherwise flowy and portrayed an elegance; but were still kept quite edgy and out there and thus blended perfectly into the whole collection for this season.

And of course... my jaw (and pretty much anyone elses) dropped when I saw this waltz down the runway........

There is only one word to describe this; WOW. I can almost see the reflection of Tisci's (and his assistant designers) hard work and effort put into the beauty that is this face mask. Featuring shell decals hanging loosely off the mask and embroided into the fabric, pearls, diamonties and other various materials that I can't quite put my finger on, this mask is what defines and wraps up this show with a huge bang. I love the absence of the mouth hole as well- it gives the whole look a more monsterous feel. Simple at the bottom, party at the top.

And to wrap things up, I'll only say this; the Givenchy Fall/Winter 2015 collection was a killer.
Riccardo Tisci- you nailed it.

Style Trend: Midi Skirts // Josh Goot Pre-fall 2015 Collection // Cameo Translucent

Notorious for his beautifully crisp cut, floral embellished dreamy bomber jackets, Josh Goot comes out yet again with a stunner of a collection worthy of praise and love. Playing around with huge peony and rose prints; the Josh Goot signature look, this collection is definitely something i've been waiting for ever since the 2011 JG collection which featured bright colours and floral prints. This time, sticking with toned down cooler colours, Goot manages to elegantly portray his signature style without repeating his previous ideas; keeping it interesting as always. The bomber jackets speak to me on another level and are a must have for those chilly winter days. Larrveeee

Cameo came out with their new Translucid collection for fall 2015 a few days ago and I'm already loving pretty much every piece. Oversized trench coats and wool sweaters are the main stars of the show and the rosy prints on white backgrounds bring a pop of colour to any outfit. What I love most about the collection is that even though most of the pieces are quite summery, they can be easily paired with a nice jacket and tights; instantly transforming into a beautiful winter outfit. Available throughout select retail stores such as David Jones, Princess Polly and FashionBunker (for online shoppers) the Translucid 2015 Collection is a play on pops of bright colours combined with monochromes and detailed patterns which add a touch of individuality to any wardrobe.

One of the huge style trends of the moment making its' way onto runways, instagram accounts and dinner parties is the trend which I haven't really gotten, and actually resented, until about 2 months ago when I purchased my first piece and fell in love instantly. I present to you; the midi skirt. The midi skirt has been around when my Mum was a kid and probably even before that; I remember watching my Grandmother show off her favourite midi pencil-cut skirt to me when I was 5 years old, and I remember my mum walking out the door every day to work; each time wearing a different style of midi skirt. At the time, I thought it looked tacky, I thought it looked old, and I thought it aged people tremendously. And then a few months ago, I spotted some girls around the city rocking the midi cut skirts and I instantly fell in love and bought my first ever midi... and I have not looked back since. In fact, the midi cut skirt is now my go-to piece to throw on if I want to go out to the city, or a dinner, or even to work; it's so wearable and appropriate for any occasion and the best part about it is that there is so many different styles and different cuts that are flattering on literally any body type. The midi cut style is classic and sophisticated yet still very stylish and modern, it has the ability to transform any simple top into a dressy outfit and not be completely over the top. If you do not have a midi skirt in your wardrobe I suggest you go and buy one now because it's the new style must have of the moment and will probably never be forgotten about. Simple, elegant and classy; I'm loving the midi skirt trend and have totally adapted it into my every day wardrobe.

Whether it be at the knee or over the shin, crisp cut, tulled at the bottom or hanging loosely off the body, on classic leather or elegant lace, with unique pattern to colour combinations or simple bold colours; the midi skirt is a style trend that has and will always be a classical piece lasting through the ages, able to be worn by both the young and the mature.
For girls that are looking for a perfect midi skirt to add to their wardrobe I suggest styles from Zimmermann, Scanlan Theodore, Finderskeepers, Topshop and Cameo. Making it's way through fashion weeks all over the world and appearing on the streets of Brisvegas, the midi skirt is a style which I am thoroughly in love with and suggest for every girl to invest in.

For hourglass figures: I suggest pencil cut skirts
For sporty figures: A-line skirts are the way to go
For apple-shaped figures: A-line skirts
For pear- shaped figures: Tulled skirts are awesome for you
