JUNE MOOD BOARD // AW15 // OUTFITS

JUNE BOARD
- Woman suit, layering, pointy loafers, block colours, fur details, neutrals, denim x denim.

Some great things this month... Winter has FINALLY come and we all know what that means! Everyone, bring out the hot coffees, the scarves, bomber jackets and crazy socks; it's that time of the year where you step outside and see your breath in the morning breeze, that time where you walk out at 7am in the morning and go "wow, the air smells wonderful", the time where you stay up all night cuddled up in bed watching movies, reading books and drinking hot tea whilst listening to the freezing silence outside. I think you've heard me say it wayyyyy too many times, I love winter with all my heart and soul. If not for the layering, then for the air, the subtle change of weather that has the ability to change societies' mood and attitude. Winter is my time to shine, to get things done and to really, really appreciate the small things.

Upcoming fashion weeks have signalled 70's come backs, and I just love the addition of contemporary colour-blocking combined with minimalistic neutrals to re-create what is called the modern-vintage. One of the coolest things this season is the ability to step out of the norms and play around with things commonly known as 'fashion mistakes' , like denim on denim, sneakers with skirts and of course, the dad coat. Simply fantastic, slightly crazy and ever so flattering, these emerging fashion trends are coming out in both womens and menswear alike- another standard of fashion which I'm loving recently. Blurring the lines between womenswear and menswear and just creating 'PEOPLEwear'. Stop putting labels on clothes. We have taught ourselves as a society to refrain from labelling individuals, so stop putting these labels on the sheer fabric choice, colour choice and fabric manipulation of a garment. A skirt is a skirt for people to wear, not girls. Likewise, a suit is a suit for all to wear, not just men. It's 2015, there is no boundaries anymore, so go wild with whatever your little heart pleases to and just enjoy life.

Before I go on, I must mention an important aspect of my recent happy-strike. I have recently been offered an awesome opportunity with one of Australia's leading Fashion Brands and could not be happier to be working for such an ever-growing, respectful, fashion-forward company. Combining my love for fashion with my customer service and sales skills has been my goal for quite some time now, and starting my actual career in fashion is now a step closer after gaining this opportunity I will forever be thankful for. This occurrence in my life has proved and highlighted a few things for me, which I feel I should share with you also. One thing is that nothing is impossible unless you think it is. Nothing is stopping you from achieving whatever you want to do, the only boundary that's present are your own demons in your head prohibiting you from change. These demons create fear, fear of the unknown or fear of failure and thus, you settle for the comfortable, for the known, and do not progress in life. You can be whatever you want to be, you can do whatever you want to do, NO ONE is stopping you. No one is holding you on a leash, telling you no. No one apart from your demons; demons which you can destroy yourself. The second thing is that hard work really does pay off, no matter how long it takes. If you really want something, like, really, REALLY want something; chances are you aren't going to succeed on the first day. Success takes time, and it takes effort. It also takes luck, and chance, and it takes patience. When it comes to a career; this aspect is crucial. You aren't gong to get the job you want at first, or even at second try. Hell, you might have to live through a dozen jobs before you get your first ever job you feel comfortable in! You'll have to work hard to create a credible reputation and personal relations which can help you achieve career goals later on in your life, but trust me; you'll get there one day. If not today, then tomorrow. If not tomorrow, then next month. Or next year. Just know, that if you want it bad enough, and if you work your butt off for it, you will get it. Love yourself and love what you do and the rewards will come. Don't doubt.

Enough talk, here are a few of my favourites from a variety of Australian designers. Nothing better than local.

simplicity, neutrality with a modern twist that gives all of us a need to shop at Country Road: the winter season brought out Country Road's love for gigantic turtle necks, comfy knits and brilliant jacket design.

CUE has again been voted as Australia's Best Fashion Brand by Marie Claire, representing that it's still on the top of the fashion scene. Pops of vibrant colour combined with classical blacks, paired with modern tailoring and inspiration from the international cat walk scene.

Remaining as one of my favourite Australian Brands, manning cartell created an unconventional winter with softer colours and a generous combination of skirt styles. Combined with extra attention to detail, manning cartell swooped this season.

Olives, charcoal greys and midnight blacks were the primary colours of Scanlan Theodore's Winter looks; re-creating the feminine chic in winter can be a difficult task but when paired with gorgeous bulky knits, coats and overthrows creates the perfect winter look.

Veronika Maine was all about knitwear this season; bringing out the best quality, style and cuts to the front of the knit wear game. Providing a myriad of knitwear colours and designs, you can't go wrong with Veronika Maine, especially their knits.

I also really want to start the habit of creating at least 5 outfits I'm loving this month by creating them on polyvore and pinning them up on here for all of you to look at. This month, I've been loving tailoring, exagerrated coats, ponchos and leather.  Mainly drawing on inspiration from my favourite fashion bloggers (Harper&Harley and of course the ever so gorgeous, amazing and down-to earth Sonya Esman of ClassisInternal), I have combined a few of most loved pieces into outfits of my choice this month.

I hope you enjoy your June Month! Remember to stay positive, happy, vibrant and busy. Some exciting things coming to this blog this month, so stay tuned !!

DIOR RESORT 16

One of the most exciting things about designers' Resort/Cruise line ups is the sheer volume of individualistic expression shown by each designer that separates one from the other, as well as the designers ability to incorporate a completely different collection from their original 'concept' or 'styles' to create something completely contrasting but in line with their brand. This year for Resort 16, Raf Simons shone a bright light towards hues, mini skirts and bubbles.. bubbles, more bubbles. Dior is known for it's sometimes out there, different line ups and although Resort 16 was a bit more toned down than some years, it did not fail to create a grasping image of the youthful, playful feel that Resorts are all about! My favourite aspect of Resort is definitely the wearability - even to a day out in the city or a lazy Sunday brunch; I feel like Dior Resort 16 can be worn in so many ways, to so many places, on so many occasions. Everyone knows, and if not, they should know by now, that my favourite colour always has been and always will be pink, so when I saw that Dior utilised pink and black hues for their primary colour palettes, I fell instantly in love. Bold prints, untraditional textiles and a bravery to play around with the 'girliest' colour of them all, Resort 16 evoked a love in me like no other.

A few things about Dior Resort 16;
- The event was held in Pierre Cardins Palais Bullets on the French Riviera (known as the bubble place, respectively)
- Guests arrived at their hotels greeted with Fresh peonies, beauty products, So real sunglasses and Panama hats for sun protection. Customer service 10/10.
- Resort proved that Raf was a sucker for plaid
- Raf Simons is not afraid to combine fabrics together; fur, plaid, sheer... you name it.
- The whole line up played a huge aspect in deciding my look for this summer.

Pierre Cardin's Palais Bullets (The Bubble Place)

co-ordinating a complimentary setting to the collection is an essential part of any showing- I love how Raf Simons tied the concept in one big giant knot of pink, bubbly heaven with the setting choice. Palais Bullets are not only fun, youthful and out-there but create a sense of modernity with a hint of vintage; exactly what Simons looks had.

Without further ado, here is Dior Resort 16 in all its' glory

Dior is one of my favourite internationally known designers and after Resort 16, I'm more than keen to wait for Simons creative mind to unleash in the SS season. Literally.Cannot.Wait.

CHANEL RESORT '16: Karl Langerfield in SOUTH KOREA

The resort collections are now ready to go, and what better way to kick off the new season than with a Chanel show? Better yet, what better way to celebrate the show than to host it in South Korea? And make Karl Langerfield himself, get his boss ass on a plane and travel across the world to a country not traditionally known as the fashion capital but rather the queen of colour, quirk and modernity? This show was a killer before it even began, and I was hella excited to see the line up Karl had for us this time. Following Karl on instagram, he revealed to us quite early on (weeks and weeks should I say) before the show that the concept of Resort 16 would be colour. Posting promo videos of Sasha, Kendall and Ming all sporting colourful attire and accessories whilst chanting "this season, Karl is colour", re-creating the official black and white Langerfield profile sketch with drips of neons and even making declaring himself to have a "special place in his heart for pinks.. even for men" , Karl did not hesitate to let us gain an insight of his show before it began. The anticipation was great , and hours before the show, Instagram was graced with the message that Karl HAS arrived in Seoul and is ready for the show. The show came, and it was gorgeous. It was everything I've been anticipating and more, and I am so surprised that Karl managed to pull off quirks of modern colours whilst still maintaining the same classical attire Chanel is known and praised for. I guess the man is genius.

When interviewed, Karl himself stated that the collection paid homeage to the host country by creating a "modern, international version of Korean mood, how we see it for the modern 21st century but with inspiration from the past because I love traditional Korean clothes, materials, patterns and all that" before going on to say that it had to be made in a modern way to attract Korean audiences but keep it timeless (Karl Langerfield, 2015). Needless to say, the collection was a crazy mix of classic Chanel / kpop star / modern colour splashes - a hybrid I'm so fond of.

models @ Chanel RESORT 15-16 ; natural brows, anyone ?

Love.

& for the line up itself... (brace yourself for KOLOUR!!)

Colour, or should I say KOLOUR, was the concept for Chanel Resort 16, but even with that in mind, Langerfield didn't forget his favourite monochromatic ensembles and created looks we all think of when we think Chanel- black and white, classic, timeless, versatile, brilliant.
Loving Chanel's Resort 16 and loving Karl Langerfields'  approach to modern fashion.

MAY MOOD BOARD/ 10 Winter Looks

Just some looks I made up on Polyvore.com that are perfect for the wintertime.
Loving the inclusion of colour, experimentation with classic fabrics and the love for turtle necks

Loving the chilly months already and cannot wait for the rest of winter! All hail hot coffees, oatmeal, warm toast with honey and layers, layers, more layers!!!!!!! Pink flushed cheeks and stand out lips, boots on the pavement and snuggling up in bed... warm pumpkin soup and a good magazine to read. Just some of my favourite parts about winter. My favourite of course, is the fashion, but the rest are necessary to mention.
